Steve Schmitt
Senior Financial Advisor
As the firm’s founder and senior financial advisor, Steve develops custom financial planning strategies for clients across multiple industries and stages of life. He focuses on getting to know all clients in order to provide custom, goal-based fiduciary advice focused on their goals.
Steve has more than a decade of experience in the financial services industry and has worked with a variety of clients, including business owners, individuals and multiple generations of family members. Prior to founding Workplace Financial Advisors, he served as a financial advisor to working-class families in the Philadelphia, South Jersey and Delaware suburbs.
Throughout his career, Steve has held several leadership positions and advisory roles. He has successfully piloted marketing systems and trained dozens of financial advisors. He has also supported hundreds of clients with custom strategies related to retirement income planning, tax diversification, risk management and advanced insurance solutions.
Throughout his career, Steve noticed that many financial advisors were prevented from providing truly fiduciary advice due to firm-mandated sales quotas and product-based commissions. He founded Workplace Financial Advisors to be a fully independent, product-agnostic firm where advisors are free to serve the best interest of clients, at all times and in all situations.
Steve has a bachelor’s degree from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. He serves as a board member of the New Jersey Landlord and Property Owners Association and a committee member for the Stephen P. Schmitt Golf Outing, which raises funds for the University of Pennsylvania’s brain cancer research. He is also an active member of Saint Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church.
Steve currently resides in South Jersey with his wife Megan, daughter Nora and overweight rescue cat, Callie.

He’s known for a direct, practical approach—keeping things simple, focused, and aligned with how his clients actually want to live.

Outside of work, Thomas spends most of his time with his wife, Ekaterina, and their daughter, Joleia. He has traveled to over 30 countries and is usually planning the next trip—often dragging his wife and daughter along for the ride. When he’s home, you’ll usually find him on the golf course, watching a baseball game, or spending time with the family dog, Stuto.
